Introduction
Welcome to Toolverse ("we", "our", or "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use our application, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
Toolverse is a file processing toolkit that includes PDF tools, image conversion utilities, QR code generation and scanning, video editing tools (compress, trim, crop, rotate, remove audio, convert format, extract a thumbnail), video-to-audio extraction, unit converters, text tools, and a color picker. It also lets you share photos, videos, and PDFs into the app from other apps, and batch-process multiple files at once. The app is available on Android and iOS.
By using Toolverse, you agree to the terms described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.
Information We Collect
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- PDF files, images, videos, or any documents you process in the app (except the image you explicitly submit to the optional Background Remover — see Section 4)
- Precise (GPS) location data — Toolverse never requests device location permissions
- Your contacts or calendar data
- Any biometric information
Information Collected Automatically
Like most mobile apps, certain non-personal technical data may be collected automatically by third-party services integrated into the app (see Section 4). This may include:
- Device type, operating system version, and screen size
- App version and crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics (for stability improvements)
- Anonymous usage events via Firebase Analytics (e.g., feature used, screen viewed)
- Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks) via Google AdMob
- Approximate, IP-derived location (country/region level) — inferred directly by Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics from your network connection; the app itself does not access or request your device location
How We Use Information
The limited technical data collected through third-party SDKs is used only for:
- Displaying relevant advertisements to keep the app free
- Diagnosing crashes and improving app stability
- Delivering over-the-air app updates via Expo Updates
- Processing background removal requests via the remove.bg API (only when you explicitly use this feature)
Third-Party Services
Toolverse integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:
Google AdMob & Consent Management
We use Google AdMob to display banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve ads. Toolverse only ever requests non-personalized ads — we never enable personalized/behavioral ad targeting. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and other applicable regions, we still use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect the consent required under applicable law before any ad is requested. You can review or change your choice at any time via "Ad Privacy Options" in the app's Settings screen.
- AdMob Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses data from partner apps: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Opt out of personalized ads: adssettings.google.com
- Manage consent (EEA/UK): tap "Privacy Options" in app Settings
remove.bg API
The "Remove Background" feature sends your selected image to the remove.bg API for AI-powered processing. This is the only feature that transmits image data outside your device. The image is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection and is processed according to remove.bg's data retention policy.
- This feature is opt-in — you must select an image and tap the button to use it
- remove.bg Privacy Policy: remove.bg/privacy
Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. This helps us identify and fix bugs to improve stability. Firebase may collect device identifiers, app activity events, and crash stack traces.
- No personally identifiable information is linked to these reports
- Firebase Privacy Policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Expo Updates
The app uses Expo Updates to deliver bug fixes and improvements without requiring a full Play Store / App Store update. This service may collect minimal device information to serve the correct update bundle.
- Expo Privacy Policy: expo.dev/privacy
Device Permissions
The app requests the following device permissions. All permissions are requested at the time they are needed and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
| Permission | Purpose | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED | Lets you pick specific photos/videos via the system picker without granting the app access to your full gallery (Android 14+ "Selected Photos" access) | Required |
| READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO | Declared by underlying libraries but explicitly blocked at build time — the app never requests full gallery access; image/video selection always goes through the system picker above | Blocked |
| READ_MEDIA_AUDIO | Access audio files you select for the audio-extraction and file-sharing tools | Required |
| READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Open PDF files from device storage on Android 12 and below | Required |
| WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Save processed PDFs and images to the device on Android 12 and below | Required |
| CAMERA | Scan QR codes and barcodes using the device camera (QR Scanner feature only) | Optional |
| INTERNET | Load AdMob ads, use the remove.bg API, and receive app updates | Required |
| VIBRATE | Brief haptic feedback when a QR code is successfully scanned | Optional |
Data Retention
Toolverse does not retain any user data on our servers because we do not operate any servers that receive user data. All file processing (PDF, image, QR, video editing, text, unit conversion) is performed locally on your device and the output is saved directly to your device storage.
Temporary files created during processing are stored in your device's cache directory and are automatically cleaned up after each operation. You can also clear the cache manually through your device's app settings.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: Request information about data held about you
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
- Opt-out: Opt out of personalized advertising via your device settings
- Portability: Request a copy of data in a portable format
Since Toolverse does not collect personal data directly, most requests can be addressed by managing permissions in your device settings or contacting the respective third-party services (Google AdMob, remove.bg).
Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your data. All network communication with third-party services (AdMob, remove.bg, Expo Updates) uses HTTPS encryption in transit.
Since files are processed locally on your device, the security of your documents is subject to your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We recommend keeping your device software up to date.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app's features, legal requirements, or third-party service integrations. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
